my room: kira

contemporary shared girls bedroom io kids design

This bedroom belongs to Kira who is nine years old. She lives with her parents and two sisters in an old apartment block in Stockholm, Sweden. Kira shares her bedroom with her sister Masha who is six.

The girls’ bedroom was designed by their mum Mina, who is the founder of contemporary kids’ furniture brand IO Kids Design. The room features a vintage yellow IO Bunk Pod and is decorated with quirky details.

Mina’s advice for designing your child’s bedroom is not to worry too much about trends, and to actively involve children in creating their own spaces. If possible, buy furniture that can grow with children and be around for a long time.

  1. Love the contrast of traditional features -wooden floor and tile fire – with the sleek of the IO Bunk Pod in lovely yellow!

  2. Simply awesome, This is a perfect example of a baby room & contrast is amazing. In & all amazingly done.. 🙂

  3. I love your blog, you have a very nice sense of style which
really comes across in the pictures you choose to show! The whole room seems to be so mature and sleek in it’s design, lots of white walls. My sister has done that for her little boy’s room, only she’s got one wall packed with children’s wall stickers which he loves very much!
