I recently bought this world map (in grey) for a two recent additions in our family. Titled “My roots lie here”, the map comes with little heart stickers that can be be used to indicate a family’s origins. I love the idea – it makes such a great gift for new parents of mixed backgrounds and/or children and their families who move around a lot. I found this cheerful paper birdhouse diy via my friends at Bambino Goodies the other day and thought it would be a nice one to share with you. The template was provided by Spanish blog Karmuca & Cuquino.
Download, print (scale up or down for different sizes), cut out and stick together. Then decorate with patterned paper and mix it up to your heart’s content with wallpaper, Japanese craft paper or wrapping paper. The wallpaper in the images is from Pip Studio.
Great for a kid’s room, but they would also make cute birth announcements don’t you think? You could add a little name tag under the entrance and send the template pre-papered to your friends and family to announce the arrival of a new addition to the family.

Remember Dutch lighting designers Hartendief? I wrote about their wonderful range of children’s lighting a while ago. Founder Hylkia got in touch to let me know they have added three new magic designs – and they are lovely! As with the previous lamps, the lamp changes appearance when the light is switched on at night, revealing a magic scene.
I often find kids’ lighting a bit too themed and overbearing, adding yet another element that draws the eye in rooms that have so much going on already. The beauty of Hartendief’s magic lights is that they are mostly white with a simple motif when they are switched off during the day, and only come to life at night. The perfect solution!

Every once in a while a new wallpaper design comes around that makes you go a little bit gooey. Hibou Home‘s new Into the Wild is one of them. Pregnancy & Birth magazine asked me to put together my top 3 favourite nursery art prints for their Expert Edit column. Easier said than done, because there’s so many gorgeous prints on my radar, it’s hard to choose just three – even more so because what works in one room, doesn’t in another. That said, my number 1, this wee bear & bunny print by mika art would look good in most baby rooms because of its neutral monochrome palette.
