kids storage house giveaway

12 July, 2012 in children's design & decor

cardboard-storage-house-kids-room

Today you can win this colourful kids storage house! It’s perfect for little collections of stones, shells, hair things, beads, buttons, crafting bits, etc.

The cardboard house is from Cox & Cox and I customised it with different patterns of vintage wallpaper from Inke. The insert at the top shows what it looked like originally. If you would like to make your own, pick colours and patterns that fit in with your child’s room décor.

I cut out little squares of wallpaper, 0.5cm larger than the drawer fronts, and glued them onto the front of each drawer, folding the edges around the sides and top. I used spray mount adhesive, but you can use wallpaper glue, or any other paper glue instead.

Both Cox & Cox and the lovely people at Inke were happy to sponsor my little project, and the result is up for grabs today!

HERE’S WHAT TO DO TO WIN THE STORAGE HOUSE (rabbit and carrots not included ; )

1. Leave a comment by clicking ‘leave comment’ at the bottom of this post, and tell me what you or your child would store in this little house.

2. Go to the Room to Bloom Facebook page to ‘Like’ us.

Done! The competition is open to UK residents only and will close Thursday 19th July at 12pm. The winner will be chosen randomly and notified by email. Good luck to everyone!

x Ursula

PS: I’ve just spotted that the house is on at half price at Cox & Cox. You can see a previous post about Inke wallpaper dinosaurs here and an Inke wallpaper tree in Felix’s room here.

  1. My little girl is 21months old and is so grown up and girly! She loves everything pink and especially likes bangles and beads, she has a collection wooden beads and bracelets, as well as all sorts of baby bangles and trinkets! She also has hundreds hair bows, bands and slides as she has such long hair and they help to keep it out her eyes, she loves dressing up in all her bits and bobs and walking around the house in my shoes! She always has to go and show our cat how pretty she looks, as you can imagine the cat really isn’t interested though, lol!

  2. My little girl Lucy is a junior eclectic collector! I would like to store her pretty hair clips and bands in the storage house but no doubt Lucy will have secret messages folded into tiny squares, pretty beads, various sweets, tiny toy animals, fossils, pieces of sea glass & driftwood she finds on the beach and perhaps a few deceased ladybirds….

I love what you have done to decorate the house, it really brings it to life.

  3. The thing is I’m only 5 months old at the moment and still stuck in Mum and Dads room but we are about to move so I can have MY OWN ROOM! For my whole life I have only ever had hand me downs from my cousins and big brother so I can not WAIT to start having my own things. As far as we can tell I’m going to be quite girly and Mum has already started looking for Daisy wall paper ( she’s hoping Aunty Urs can help wit this ) so I think the things I will store in this sweet house would be…..daisy chains, shells, socks, bogies, hair slides, drawings and Raisins!!!!!! i love what youve done this little house – Im sure I had some of those prints as a child! My four year old daughter would love to store all her little trinkets in this – necklaces made from straws, La La Loopsy figures, hair clips and shells. She’s always collecting little treasures.

  5. Hello Ursula,
Great work ! I love the vintage feeling of this darling house. I’m sur my daughter would love to hang it in her room and store all her clips, bracelets and childhood treasures !

  6. Me and my one year old boy would store our plastic cowboys&indians…left over from his birthday decorations. Plus things we collect on our walks…little crazy creatures we find and felt animals that I make him. As he gets bigger I imagine dinosaurs, rocks and lego will fill it! I will also keep my hair bobbles in it

  7. Hi Ursula,

I am so happy I discovered your blog, via Paul & Paula. it is beautiful:)

  8. Hi Ursula, my daughter brings a collection of pebbles from every trip, I find them hidden in pockets, drawers and even under her pillow! She could store them in this little house and label the compartments with locations! Perfect!

  9. This house would just be perfect for my daughters huge collection of hair clips 🙂

  10. MARGARET MULHOLLAND

Just perfect for all those bits n bobs that are normally left lying about- going to check it out right now on cox & cox!

  11. I am 7 months pregnant with my first child, a baby girl! The house would look perfect in the nursery to store all the little essentials babies need! It’s really beautiful Ursula.

  12. Hi Ursula, I would decorate it Christmas style and turn it into a big advent calendar to count down the days until Christmas, noticing it has 24 + 2 drawers, making it suitable for Christmas Eve or Christmas day countdowns.
For everyday use, I think of all those little ‘surprise egg’ sized toys, like keychains, cars, little dolls, that somehow seem to accumulate without a place to be stored.

  13. My 18 month old daughter Betsy would love this storage house to keep all the stones that she likes to collect from the garden – they are her favourite thing to play with, despite having plenty of toys!

  14. Hallo,

  15. Who won the house????
Was it Daisy???? She’ll REALLY cry if it wasn’t ;))))

  16. It is such a pretty storage idea. My 4 years old princess would be elated to have it..showed it to her, she says she would store her bracelets, pens, beads, letters etc.
